Fears Shannon Ukrainians Will Be Cut Off From Medical Services If Moved To Lisdoonvarna

Fear has been expressed that Ukrainian refugees living in Shannon’s Phoenix House will be cut off from medical services if they’re moved to Lisdoonvarna.

Residents of the Shannon emergency accommodation centre were informed last week that the contract with the building owner has been terminated, meaning they’ll be relocated to the North Clare town next Monday.

The Department of Integration says the decision is “part of the Government’s policy of reducing its accommodation portfolio”.

Natalia Bozhyk, who fled Ukraine alone while still a teenager and lived in Phoenix House until recently, claims many elderly residents as well as those with health conditions are worried they’ll have no access to doctors’ appointments if the move goes ahead.

And you can hear more on this on Clare FM’s Morning Focus this Monday morning from 9am.
