The Fianna Fáil leader's hit back at a new 'attack ad' from Fine Gael.

The ad – which shows a picture of a part of a ghost estate in Leitrim – says Fianna Fáil shouldn't be allowed come back to haunt people.

Micheál Martin's also defended a 30,000 euro 'top up' to his pay from party funds.

Fianna Fáil's holding a one-day pre-election Ard Fheis in Dublin with attacks on the coalition on crime, the economy and agriculture so far.

But a counter attack from Fine Gael comes in the form of an ad in newspapers today, showing 6 abandoned half built houses and a message not to let Fianna Fáil come back to haunt us.

Fianna Fáil leader says it's evidence of another broken promise from Enda Kenny who promised no negative campaigning.

Today it emerged Micheál Martin has taken a 30,000 euro a year 'top up' to his salary from party funds for the extra workload as leader.

He's defended the payment which comes from taxpayer funding of parties, and says a newspaper report today that the money is tax free is an error and that it's fully taxable.
