Clare Fianna Fáil has proposed three candidates to contest the next general election.

At the close of nominations, the party has opted for the same ticket as the previous election, comprising sitting TD, Meelick Deputy Cathal Crowe, former TD, Tulla based Senator Timmy Dooley and Doonbeg Councillor Rita McInerney.

The party will hold an internal selection convention in the coming weeks to finalise whether it will run just two of the nominees or all three.

Although Taoiseach Simon Harris has declared his intention for the coalition to run its full term until next February, the election is expected to be called for October or November.
