Fianna Fail Support Slumps Further

Fianna Fail have hit a historic low in the opinion polls.

A Millward Brown opinion poll in today’s Sunday Independent gives the party just 10 per cent, while Fine Gael support is up four points to 40 per cent.

The poll also indicates that Labour’s presidential candidate Michael D Higgins remains favourite to become the next President of Ireland.

32 per cent of those surveyed said they would vote for him, while 19 per cent said they would give their number one to David Norris, who has confirmed he hope’s to re-enter the race for the Aras. 

But the survey was taken before the entry of Martin McGuinness – who will be ratified as Sinn Fein’s presidential candidate later today.
