Fire fighter cleared of sexual assault

A retired fire-fighter has been cleared of sexually assaulting a babysitter at his former homes in Shannon and Limerick.

59 year old Michael O’Grady of Meadow Brook, Corbally, Limerick had denied a total of ten counts of indecent assault.

The alleged victim had said the incidents had occurred on dates between October 1976 and January 1981.

At Limerick Circuit Criminal Court yesterday, the jury in the trial returned majority not guilty verdicts on all charges.

Speaking afterwards Mr. O’Grady said the experience had been traumatic and he was glad and relieved it was over.
