FLAC call for action on delays to social welfare appeals

The Free Legal Advice Centre is calling for an independent body to deal with social welfare appeals.

It’s launched a report today, criticising the appeals system for taking too long – and for not being transparent.

It says people can wait for more than a year for an oral hearing into why their application for social welfare was rejected.
