Flybe says it’s new flight from Shannon to Glasgow is part of a trial to assess the viability of Clare’s international airport for future services.

The English-based carrier is returning to Shannon for the first time since 2005, with a three-times weekly service to the Scottish city, beginning in May.

Flybe is Europe’s largest regional airline, and Shannon is it’s 84th airport – officials in Clare are hopeful the airline will launch more services here in the future.

Flybe’s Head of PR Niall Duffy says they’ll assess the take-up on the Glasgow route before making any further decisions down the line.
