Today after 5 hours of deliberations the fate of Adam Clayton’s former PA was sealed – she sat with her hands clasped for 20 minutes as unanimous guilty verdicts on 181 counts of theft were read out.

181 is the number of cheques she wrote to draw down over 2.8 million Euro from the U2 bassist’s Bank of Ireland accounts.

Adam Clayton who gave evidence against his former PA arrived as the case drew to a close and made a very brief statement outside court:

The court has heard Carol Hawkins maintains her innocence – the judge today described the evidence against her as ‘overwhelming’.
