Funding Air Ambulance Services Would Be “Boost For Rural Areas”

It’s claimed funding Ireland’s air ambulance services would prevent situations arising like last weekend, where a Clare ambulance crew undertook a 900km round journey by road.

It comes as the Cork-based charity air ambulance, which has been in operation for just six months, is appealing for funding to stay open.

The service needs in the region of €400,000 or it will be out of action in just two weeks’ time.

Founder and volunteer John Kearney says by funding services like theirs, rural areas wouldn’t be left lacking, like was the case in Clare last weekend when crews were dispatched to Cork and Tipperary.
