Gardaí are continuing to quiz a 67 year old man over a security breach at Shannon Airport .

It’s the third arrest this week in connection with the Anti War Protest at Clare’s International Airport last month.

The 67 year old man was detained by gardaí  in the Castletroy area of Limerick at half eight this morning and taken to Shannon Garda Station.

He’s being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice act and can be quizzed for up to 12 hours on suspicion of criminal damage at Shannon Airport on October 7th.

Its all part of Shannon Gardaí investigation into an incident on that date when two anti war protesters carrying banners, breached the perimeter fence at the airport and made their way onto the main runway.

Today’s arrest follows two others on Monday when a woman in her seventies and a man in his fifties were detained in Galway.

They were subsequently released without charge.

Gardaí say further arrests in the case are likely.
