Gardaí are investigating a possible link between aggravated burglary on two elderly brothers in Kilmihil at the weekend with similar incidents near Moyasta and Kilmaley recently.

A substantial amount of money was taken in the latest break in which occurred over the weekend.

Making a special appeal for information on Morning Focus today Sergeant Joe Downey told Clare Fm’s John Cooke that the latest victims were terrorised in their own home in Lack West Kilmihil.

The elderly brothers- both in their 80’s were in bed when a number of individuals broke in through the back door at half three on Saturday night.

They threatened the elderly brothers, who sustained facial injuries that gardaí  believe mat have been inflicted by the culprits – before escaping with a substantial sum of money.

It comes just a fortnight after two elderly sisters were targeted in the exact same manner at their home in Kildimo Bansha near Moyasta- while two elderly men were robbed in their house in Kilmaley a week earlier.
