A man has died after a crash in Co. Limerick overnight.

The 29-year-old man was driving the only car involved in the collision, which happened about a mile from Granagh – on the Croom to Granagh road at Kilmore –  just before 4 O’clock this morning.

He was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick – where he was later pronounced dead.

The road has been closed for a forensic examination, and diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Askeaton are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
