Gardaí are advising motorists of dangerous driving conditions on roads across Clare this morning.
There’s reports of heavy surface water on all roads, while there’s flooding in many parts following persistent rain overnight.
The northbound lane of the N18 is closed to one lane between junction 5 Cratloe and Junction 6 Bunratty, after a car left the road shortly after 8 o’clock this morning.
Emergency services are at the scene and diversions are in place. There are no reports of injuries.
While a further two cars left the road on the southbound lane in the same area shortly before nine o’clock. The scene has since been cleared.
It’s among a number of roads affected by the rain – The Ennis to Ennistymon Road is said to be particularly bad, with flooding in parts, while there’s heavy surface water on the Ennis to Kilrush Road.
The N67 is impassable at Caherfeenick, Doonbeg, due to flooding, while the Mountshannon to Scariff Road is impassible with a number of cars caught up in flooding.
The Cappa Road in Kilrush, the Doonaha to Querrin Road, the Kilmurry to Sixmilebridge Road, and the Tulla to Bodyke road are all flooded in parts, as well as the Quin Road, past the Railway bridge and the Ballyvaughan to Lemenagh castle road.
A low level yellow rain warning remains in place in Clare until 9 o’clock tonight, with up to 40 millimetres of rainfall expected across Munster and Leinster over the coming hours.
