Gardai in Kilrush are warning householders to be on the alert for a new postal scam doing the rounds.
They say a number of homes have already received letters in which the residents are informed they have won an international lottery prize- but in order to claim it they must send back their bank details.
The scam letter also tells them that in order to receive the jackpot they must first send on a sum of cash.
Kilrush Gardai are urging residents to ignore these letters and to be cautious when providing personal details.
