Government Criticised By Midwest Migrant Rights Group For Abandoning International Protection Applicants

A Midwest migrants’ rights group has criticised the Government for “abandoning to the streets”, people who came to this country seeking safety and protection.

It follows confirmation from the Department of Integration that it can no longer house newly arrived international protection applicants.

A spokesperson for the Department said tents and sleeping bags will be provided to people, where required, due to a severe shortage of available accommodation, although women and children will still be accommodated.
