The Government has launched its Mid-West Action Plan for Jobs.

It targets the creation of 23,000 jobs in Clare, Limerick and Tipperary by 2020 as part of a 250 million euro regional jobs strategy.

The Government's Mid-West Action Plan for Jobs aims to deliver up to 15% employment growth in the region by 2020.

It's the fourth of eight regional jobs plans to be published as part of a new 250 million euro regional jobs strategy.

The plan, which was launched by the Minister for Jobs focusses on investment in tourism, aviation, manufacturing and agriculture.

Speaking to Clare FM's Morning Focus, Richard Bruton said it aims to build on the successful creation of jobs in Clare throughout 2014.

The Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council is giving a cautious welcome to the plan.

But Councillor James Breen, who attended today's launch fears that it provides no more than hope at this point.

Meanwhile, 200 new jobs have been announced for Limerick.

It's part of a 350 million dollar investment by pharmaceutical firm Regeneron.

The company acquired the former Dell facility at Raheen in Limerick where it plans to build the largest capacity biopharmaceutial production facility in Ireland.

The investment will bring the total employed by the company in Limerick to 500 by the end of 2017.
