Government unveil plans for Independent Shannon Airport.

850 new jobs have been secured from two Shannon based companies as the government formally announces its plans to separate Clare’s International Airport from the DAA.

At a press conference in Dublin today Minister Leo Varadkar and Richard Bruton confirmed the airport will be granted full independence on December 31st and merged with a restructured Shannon Development to form a new entity.

Over 800 new jobs have already been secured as part of plans for an International Aviation Services Centre while up to 3 and a half thousand positions are expected to be created by the centre within five years.
