The Garda Representative Association says it defies all logic to reduce the strength of the force to 13-thousand given the rise in crime.
It’s calling on the Government to carry out a study to determine how many officers are needed to police the country and then act upon it’s findings.
The issue is one of a number of concerns which will be highlighted at the association’s annual conference in Westport, Co. Mayo this week.
