Over 70 houses have been given the green light in Ennis and Shannon.
An Bórd Pleanála has upheld Clare County Council’s decision to grant planning permission for 46 units in the county town while a further 28 homes have been approved in Shannon.
On April 29th 2022, EKO Integrated Services Limited was granted planning permission for its proposed development consisting of 46 housing units at 1-4 Buttermarket Street and Simm’s Lane, Drumbiggle, Ennis.
The application was for the demolition of the existing buildings on the site as well as the partial removal of the existing wall to the eastern boundary.
That would be to facilitate the construction of a four-storey apartment building on Drumbiggle Road with 30 two-bedroom apartments and three one-bedroom apartments, a four-storey apartment building on Buttermarket Street Lane with seven two-bedroom apartments, and six three-storey terraced town houses on Buttermarket Street.
A third party appeal was launched one month later on May 15th 2022 by Mary Burke, Patrick Conboy, Stephen Loftus and others – stalling the development for over two years.
On June 17th of this year however, An Bórd Pleanála upheld the decision to approve the development – subject to 28 conditions.
Separately, the local authority has given the green light for a 28-unit development in Shannon.
Woodhaven Developments Limited is seeking to build thirteen two-storey dwellings and fifteen two-storey dwellings, with optional additional attic bedroom accommodation, at Radharc Doire in Smithstown.
The application was approved by Clare County Council’s Planning Department on June 20th subject to 25 conditions.
