A Lahinch county councillor has said that the beach lifeguard service is the best service that the council provides in terms of cost.
This comes as Clare becomes the first county in the Republic to provide lifeguards at beaches in the month of May.
Lahinch and Spanish Point will see their lifeguard stations manned this weekend with Fanore and Kilkee to follow suit next weekend.
Councillor Liam Grant of the Green Party says that the service will benefit swimmers in a variety of ways as they take to the coast over the next two weeks.
