The Head of the Clare Garda division insists that the standard of reserve Gardaí in the county remains high.
It comes as figures released to the Dáil by Tanaiste Frances Fitzgerald shows the county hs the lowest number of Garda reserves in the country with just 8 in the Clare Division.
Other counties such as Tipperary, Kerry, Donegal and Mayo all have at least twenty, while the Roscommon/Leitrim Division has the second-lowest amount at 11.
The Tanaiste's statistics also show that the number of Garda Reserves in the Clare Division is at its lowest level since 2011, and has more than halved in the past four years.
