The Health Minister says there is no reason why there shouldn’t be an improvement in the number of people on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick.
421 patients were waiting for a bed around the country today – with more than half of them at five hospitals.
56 people were left waiting for a bed at UHL, which has been increasingly under the spotlight for its high trolley count.
Minister Stephen Donnelly claims capacity is improving, but says there needs to be reforms at the hospital too.
The Health Minister says “the 50 beds in Nenagh are opening in the coming weeks… the beds in Clare are opening in the coming weeks… things have to get better in UHL. They’re getting better in almost every hospital in the country. UHL is on its own in terms of the increase in patients on trolleys”.
