A Clare member of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West believes plans need to be put in place to cater for future service demand at Ennis General Hospital.
Between January & March the county town facility operated at 105% capacity, 20% above recommended international best practice.
Figures released by the UL Hospitals Group at this month’s meeting also show that 9,471 patients presented at the Local Injury & Medical Assessment units in Ennis to date this year.
Kilkee based, Fianna Fáíl Councillor , Cillian Murphy who queried the matter, says expansion strategies need to be identified immediately for the growing population.
