Hopes New Plans Will Bring Legacy Clare Flooding Issues To An End

It’s hoped legacy flooding issues in many Clare communities will soon be eliminated as the local authority and Office of Public Works progresses with major projects.

Clare County Council has received approval to apply for planning permission for a flood relief scheme for Kilkee that will protect 134 properties.

The OPW claims a €5m flood relief scheme for Sixmilebridge is also nearing completion, while a planning application for a scheme in Shannon Town is due to be submitted next year.

Clare Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley says protection measures are urgently needed.
