The Deputy Leader of the Green Party is hopeful that a budget proposal aimed at supporting small businesses will help preserve the uniqueness of towns across Clare.

A strategy devised by Inagh Senator Roisin Garvey looks to introduce a rates refund for small businesses, which would see any rates in the region of €3,000 completely refunded, with bills higher than this subject to a 50% reduction.

The refund would be open to around 100,000 small businesses across the country, with the aim of keeping their doors open amidst steep competition from larger companies and rising overhead costs.

Inagh Senator Garvey has been telling Clare FM’s Darragh O’Grady that more needs to be done for small businesses, claiming the Government cares more for multinational companies.
