Hopes Shannon Airport can help reduce Clare’s rising dole queues

It’s hoped a newly independent Shannon Airport will become the main driver in reducing Clare’s stubbornly high dole queues.

Live Register figures for November show an extra 104 people signed on last month – with Ennistymon experiencing the biggest jump.

Overall the numbers seeking some form of unemployment benefit in Clare stands at over 9,700.

North Clare Fianna Fail Councillor Richard Nagle hopes Shannon Airport’s separation from the DAA and the subsequent development of aviation services will provide his area with a much need jobs boost
