A South East Clare community is set to benefit from a significant housing boost.

Clare County Council has approved planning permission for 22 two-storey housing units in Westbury.

The application was submitted to Clare County Council in June of last year seeking permission to construct the units in Bruachlán.

Plans consist of the building of 6 two-bedroom semi-detached houses, 12 three-bedroom semi-detached houses along with 4 two-bedroom terraced houses.

The application also includes the undertaking of relevant drainage, road, landscaping and ancillary site works, all which were approved.

The site had previously had planning permission unsuccessfully objected to by 127 residents in 2015, this permission has since lapsed having never been utilised.

The planning application was given permission by the Council on July 17th subject to 17 conditions.
