HSE confirm plans to remove emergency medical care from Ennis.

Clare members of the Health Forum West have expressed disappointment after the HSE’s confirmation of plans to downgrade emergency care facilities at Ennis General to a local injuries unit.

At a meeting last evening, local representatives were told that the changes will see care at the county hospital focused on adults and children over five years with cases such as broken bones, soft tissue injuries and wounds.

Patients with more serious problems will be transferred directly to Limerick Regional.

No date has been set for the changes to take place, but officials say it will require a ‘significant lead-in time’ for discussions to be held with relevant bodies.
