A protest meeting regarding the future of acute services at Ennis General has been told that the HSE is to review the reconfiguration of healthcare in Clare

A large crowd of around 500 people, including all of the county’s general election candidates, attended the gathering at the West County Hotel in Ennis, amid fears that acute medical facilities and some psychiatric services are due to close from March 1st.

Those in attendance were also told that the Minister for Health has been urged to defer any decision on the matter until a new Government is in place

Siobhan Murray, a nurse at the high dependency unit at Ennis General, says the people of Clare are aware of the seriousness of this issue.
