HSE Warn Of Lifelong Impacts Of STIs Following Record High Transmissions In The MidWest

The HSE is warning the people of Clare of the potentially devastating lifelong health impacts of sexually transmitted infections.

A record high number of STIs have been recorded across the MidWest region so far this year, with 274 cases of gonorrhea and 664 cases of chlamydia alone.

The HSE is now urging the public to wear condoms during sex and to avail of free STI home testing that can be accessed on www.sexualwellbeing.ie

Specialist in Public Health Medicine with Public Health MidWest Dr Kenneth Beatty says the effects can lead to infertility in both males and females.
