Hundreds of people have gathered at Liscannor Church to remember Caitríona Lucas.

A congreation of family friends, neighbours and rescue service colleagues heard how the Doolin Coast Guard Unit volunteer lived a life dedicated to helping others, to art and to love of animals.

Caitríona Lucas' Colleagues and the rescue service led a guard of honour as her coffin was brought into Liscannor Church.

While those who gathered today mourned her death, they also celebrated her life.

Chief Celebrant, Fr Denis Crosby spoke of a woman who loved life, loved to travel and was always first to spring to the aid of others.

A slideshow inside the church showed pictures from all corners of the world.

Caitríona is being laid to rest at Kilmacreehy cemetery this afternoon.

She leaves behind her husband Bernard, daughter Emma and son Ben.

Ben remembered his mother, saying "she was the most exceptional person in every way, who loved life and gave everything she did one hundred percent".

He said "she was an inspriation to everyone and I will always remember her smile and her laugh. She will be missed by everyone and she will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts".

He concluded his dedication by saying "Good bye to our wonderful mother. Love Always. You are my hero".
