IA encouraged by traffic through Shannon

The Shannon-based Irish Aviation Authority have expressed hope that aviation traffic will pick up here in the near future.

New figures for June showed that commercial traffic through Shannon Airport was up almost a quarter year-on-year, and that a small increase has been recorded at the state airports in the first half of 2011.

The number of flights passing through Irish Airspace has also increased, and Lillian Cassin of the IAA is hopeful that this is an early indicator of a pick-up in flights landing here.
