The Inagh-based CEO of Muintir na Tíre says the new Text Alert Rebate Scheme will aid in efforts to reduce crime in rural areas.
The Tánaiste has announced the 100,000 euro fund for local groups registered under the Garda Text Alert Scheme.
Muintir na Tíre, in partnership with An Garda Síochána, have rolled out the community alert programme to almost 1,000 local groups, a number of which are here in Clare.
Up until now, community groups were responsible for their own costs but those who are eligable will be able to receive 100 euro towards the operation of the facility.
