The financial situation at University Hospital Limerick has deteriorated further, according to a new HSE report.

Figures from the Executive show the region's main hospital was €19.7 million over budget by the end of August, and that this was contributing to an overall overspend of €327 million across the HSE.

Ennis General Hospital is under budget by nearly €200,000.

Across the Midwest, over 7,600 people have been waiting at least six months for an outpatient appointment, with a further 450 waiting at least eight months for inpatient care.
