INMO Says Figures Show Need For Increased Resources At Region’s Hospital

The INMO says it's becoming increasingly clear that the provision of infrastructure and beds is the only way to tackle the overcrowding crisis at the region's main hospital.

New figures show a 31% increase in trolley numbers at University Hospital Limerick in July, with 649 people waiting for beds, up from 495 in the same month last year.

It comes as Health Minister Simon Harris has announced a five point plan to tackle hospital waiting lists, which he hopes will lead to a 50 per cent reduction in the number of patients waiting more than 18 months.

The Dooradoyle facility is by far the most overcrowded in the country again today, with 38 people waiting for beds and the INMO's Midwest Representative, Mary Fogarty has been telling me that action plans won't work without resources.
