Local Fianna Fail Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy has warned that failing to notify some insurance companies of penalty points immediately after receiving them, could result in policies being deemed invalid.
 
The issue was raised in the Dáil by her party colleague John Brassil, following a number of queries from his constituents.
 
But the CEO of Munster Group Insurance, Padraic McNicholas is dismissing this, saying motorists should inform their insurers at the time of renewal.
