Junior transport Minister denies that Clare aceessible transport Network will be scrapped

The Junior Transport Minister has catagorically rejected claims Clare Accessible Transport will scrapped under plans to overhaul the rural transport network.

Fears for the county’s service were expressed earlier this year after a leaked document claimed the government was set to abolish 35 community based companies nationwide and replace them with 8 regional authorities.

Clare Accessible Transport currently operate 9 buses with 50 thousand passenger trips made last year and the operators fear a regional based service will have devestating consequences for the most vunerable in the county.

However speaking ahead of the offical opening of a cycleway in North Clare , Minister Alan Kelly says change to the overall system is needed – but denied Clare’s service would be scrapped
