A Kilkee father is urging parents to warn their children about the dangers of fireworks, after his son suffered injuries when a banger exploded in his hand.
14 year old Patrick Lucey lost the top of his index finger in the accident which happened while he was playing with fireworks, acquired by friends at the Ploughing Championships.
Fortunately he’s making a good recovery from his hand injuries, but his father James says parents need to realise that children can access fireworks – regardless of their illegality.
In an interview on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, Mr Lucey expressed hope that others will learn from his son’s lucky escape
