A West Clare business owner claims her privacy has been eroded amid preparations for the opening of a new IPAS centre.

Up to 27 male international protection applicants are expected to arrive imminently at the former Central B&B in Kilrush, after the property’s owner signed a one-year contract with the Department of Integration last week.

A community group calling itself ‘Kilrush Says No’ has been holding daily marches in the town and demonstrations outside the building in protest of the decision since – while the West Clare Family Resource Centre and Young People of Kilrush have been among those to issue statements welcoming the incoming Asylum Seekers.

Owner of O’Brien’s Bar Antoinette Lillis, who’s located next door to the property on Henry Street ,says the lack of consultation on the process so far has been extremely frustrating.
