Lahinch Shopkeeper Calling For Investigation Into Car Rental Prices

A shopkeeper in Lahinch is calling for an investigation into alleged ‘price gouging’ within the car rental market.

Donogh O’Loughlin, of O’Loghlin’s in the seaside town was this week told by American tourists that they had been charged €7,000 to rent a car for two weeks.

The car they had booked was costing €4,000, however upon collection, they decided to upgrade as the car provided was too small for their needs.

 

The upgrade cost the family an extra €3,000.

Donogh O’Loghlin is calling for action to tackle the prohibitive cost for fear that tourists won’t return.
