The single largest loss of life in Clare during the Famine will be remembered this week.

41 people drowned at Cammoge Point on December 12, 1849 after they were refused admission to Kilrush Workhouse.

To mark National Heritage Week, the Kilrush & District Historical Society are to re-enact the return journey taken by the late West Clare victims.

PRO of the Society, Paddy Waldron, says it is important to remember the victims of this tragedy and other across Clare during the Famine.
