Census results from April of last year show there were over 10,000 students aged at least 15 in County Clare.

This number has grown by over 2,100 and represents a 27.3% increase.  The average for Ireland and for Munster is just 17 and 14% respectively.

But while the numbers in education here are on the rise, the numbers able to access much-needed information online is less than in other parts of Ireland.  Three in five Clare homes have access to broadband, and while this is four times the figure of five years previously, it’s still 5% less than the national average.

The unemployment rate stood at 18.8%, slightly higher than what is typical in Munster, and it seems we regard ourselves as being just as healthy as people in other areas, with 8 of 9 Clare residents classifying their health as good or very good, broadly in line with overall figures.
