Loop Head Lighthouse contributed around 650,000 euro to the West Clare economy this summer.
The lighthouse closed it’s doors for the final time this season on Sunday, with figures showing that 17,400 people passed through it’s doors in it’s 18 weeks of operation.
Among the visitors this year were An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, who officially opened a new interpretative exhibition at the site, as well as Dr. Aleida Guevara March, who took time out from the Che do Bheatha festival in Kilkee to visit the lighthouse this weekend.
Ruairi Deane of Shannon Development says they’re very pleased with the project’s success.
