The Liscannor man who invented the submarine is to be celebrated 100 years after his death, as part of National Heritage Week.
John P Holland will be remembered in one of 75 events this month, with others including a tour of towerhouses around Shannon Town, a lecture on the life of a Kilrush-born Boer War General and a tour of Lisdoonvarna's famous Spa waters.
National Heritage Week 2014 runs from August 23rd to August 31st.
