The first count of Day Two in counting the local elections in Clare has resulted in the election of a Councillor.

Counting resumed at 9:00 a.m. this morning, and the first count was the twelfth in the Ennis electoral area.

This saw Fine Gael's Johnny Flynn scoop up 130 votes from the vote of his eliminated party colleague Cillian Griffey, enough to see him exceed the quota.

Johnny Flynn retains his Council seat – he had also been a member of the now defunct Ennis Town Council.
