Local Film Industry Expected To See Further Growth Off Back Of Recent Productions

The Producers behind a major feature film being shot in Clare this week anticipate the film industry in the region will continue to grow off the back of recent productions.

Locations throughout Clare have been transformed into 1940’s Germany this month for the filming of “God Spy”, a World War II story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the legendary German theologian-turned-spy, who stood up to the nazis.

The movie, which is directed by prolific screenwriter, producer and novelist, Todd Komarnicki, opens and ends with scenes shot in O’Briensbridge, Fanore beach, the Burren and Kinturk in Clare.

Head of locations, Sean Flynn says traditionally filming in Ireland has taken place on the east coast but he says there’s now a shift to locations here.
