The long wait is over for Clare’s class of 2022 who’ve received their Leaving Cert results.

More than 1,300 school-leavers across the Banner opened virtual envelopes containing their grades today.

1,361 pupils across the Banner began their Leaving Cert back in June.

Today, the results have been released virtually, rather than the traditional envelope format seen in the years pre-COVID.

710 girls and 651 boys in Clare make up the class of 2022.

There’s also a further 68 students in this county who’ve got getting their grades for the Leaving Certificate Applied programme.

These Clare students say they’re relieved to finally get their marks.

Students will, between 5pm on Tuesday and 8pm on Wednesday, be able to apply for their scripts to be viewed should they decide they want to appeal results in some, or all, subjects.

Education Minister Norma Foley says support is also available for students though their schools.

There’s been changes to the grading of the exams this year, with around 50 per cent of grades inflated in line with last year’s record-high results.

It could lead to universities using random selection for college places.

Principal at Ennis Community College and Gaelcholáiste an Chláir, Brian O’ Donoghue, says whatever needed to be done to support students this year had to be done.

Attention now turns to next Thursday, when first round CAO offers are released.
