The Labour Relations Commission has been asked to intervene in the ongoing dispute at Element 6 in Shannon.

The formal invitation to talks follows a mass protest by over 400 members of staff, ex-employees and family members at the factory yesterday.

They took the action to vent their anger at the company’s refusal to negotiate on the redundancy deal.

Following allegations of bullying tactics by the company from unions, the HR Manager at Element 6, Tadgh O’Halloran has formally requested the LRC to invite all parties to talks on the issues.

SIPTU Shannon Branch organiser Mary O’Donnell says the company must provide workers with the same level of redundancy as they have in the past.
