A man’s appeared in court in Australia, charged with the rape and murder of Jill Meagher in Melbourne.
The 29-year-old from Drogheda had been missing since last weekend – until her body was found outside the city yesterday.
41-year-old Adrian Ernest Bayley appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court and will now face a committal hearing on the 18th of January next.
Jill’s husband, Tom, spoke briefly outside the court following the hearing where he thanked the public and police for their assistance but described the murder as "the worst thing he will go through" in his life.
