Visitors planning a trip to the Cliffs of Moher today are being urged not to go due to extremely hazardous conditions because of high winds.

Met Eireann is forecasting strong gales force winds, up to 130 kilometres per hour while, waves will reach up to 10 metres high as the remnants of Hurricane Katia makes it way to the country.

Some ferry crossing have been cancelled due to the extremely stormy conditions and Management at the Cliffs of Moher is urging people not to travel to the North Clare attraction due to the treacherous high winds.

Spokesperson Katherine Webster is urging potential visitors to call ahead to the centre if they planning to travel to the Cliffs.

Meanwhile, while all routes across the county are clear – motorists are being warned to drive with extreme care due to fallen debris which is making some roads quite slippy.

There’s also spot flooding in some areas – while fallen trees in a number of other counties are making driving conditions difficult.
